Lifting slings and lashing for wind components and oversize loads

Blades, tower sections and nacelles are expensive, awkward and unforgiving. A sling that marks the surface or a lashing that creeps during a road move costs far more than the sling. We make wide, soft, high-capacity slings for exactly this kind of load.

What goes wrong

The four problems we are asked to solve

Every industry has its own way of losing a load. These are the ones our customers raise most often — and what we do about them.

01

Surface damage on blades and coated steel

Wire rope and chain mark the load. Our round slings and wide flat slings spread the load over a soft polyester surface, so a painted blade or a machined flange comes off the hook the way it went on.

02

Capacity under wide sling angles

Lifting capacity collapses as the included angle opens. We help you work out the working load limit for the actual sling angle and the number of legs, then supply the leg set with the marking to match.

03

Long road moves, sustained tension

Oversize transport runs for days. Lashing straps with controlled elongation hold tension across the whole route, and edge protectors stop the webbing being cut by a sharp frame corner.

04

Documentation for a lifting plan

Lift plans and client QA both need the standard, the WLL and the test record. We supply the product documentation, batch pull-test records and, on request, third-party test certificates.

Standards

What these products are made to

Standards are how a buyer checks a claim without visiting the factory. The marking on the product, the test record in our files and the standard in the table beside this are the same three things.

  • Capacity and standard marked on every item
  • Batch number traceable to the pull-test record
  • Declaration of conformity supplied on request
  • Third-party inspection (SGS, BV, Intertek) welcome
EN 1492-1Flat woven webbing slings — capacity colour coded so the leg in your hand matches the leg on the lift plan.
EN 1492-2Round slings made of man-made fibres for a soft, flexible, high-capacity endless sling.
ASME B30.9Sling standard used by many North American lifting operations and increasingly asked for in wind projects.
Questions we are asked

Wind Energy & Oversize Cargo — FAQ

Which colour sling is which capacity?+

We follow the international colour code: purple 1 t, green 2 t, yellow 3 t, grey 4 t, red 5 t, brown 6 t, blue 8 t, orange 10 t. The tag on every sling carries the WLL in figures as well.

Can you supply a multi-leg sling set?+

Yes — 2-leg, 3-leg and 4-leg assemblies with master link, shackles and equalising components, built to the working load limit you need.

Do you make extra-wide or extra-long slings?+

Yes. Widths, lengths and ply construction are made to order, including the very wide slings used under blade roots and long fabrications.

Send us the load, not a product code

Tell us what you are securing or lifting, the anchor points you have and the standard you must meet. We will come back with the product, the working load limit and a price.
