Getting lashing straps into the Gulf is a paperwork problem, not a product problem

There is no Gulf version of EN 12195-2 that a strap has to pass. What stands between your container and the market is a conformity assessment procedure — SABER in Saudi Arabia, MOIAT in the UAE — plus the test reports and Arabic labelling that go with it. We have supplied the Gulf for years and we know which document the importer will ask for next.

Which certificate each country asks for

Customs does not inspect your webbing. It checks whether the certificate attached to the consignment is the right type, in the right name, and still valid.

Documents that sit behind those certificates, in practice: commercial invoice with HS code, packing list, certificate of origin, test reports from an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory, technical data sheet and product photographs with the label visible. We prepare our side of that list with every Gulf order.

Common misconception

G-Mark does not cover lashing straps

The G-Mark is the GCC conformity mark under GSO technical regulations. The categories it is built around are low-voltage electrical equipment and toys. Cargo lashing straps, webbing slings, round slings and rigging hardware are not in that scope, so a buyer asking you for "G-Mark on the straps" is usually repeating something they were told, not quoting a regulation.

What they most likely mean is one of two things — and both are things we can answer:

  • "The shipment has to clear" → that is SABER (Saudi Arabia) or ECAS (UAE), and it is the importer who files it.
  • "I need proof the strap is safe" → that is a test report to EN 12195-2 or EN 1492 from an accredited laboratory, which we can supply before you order.

Send us the message your buyer sent you, screenshots included, and we will tell you which of the two it really is.

The standards that do exist

GSO standards for cargo securing

Gulf standardCovers
GSO ISO 27956:2013Road vehicles — securing of cargo in delivery vans up to 7.5 t. Adopted by endorsement from ISO 27956:2009.
GSO ISO 9367-2:2016Lashing and securing arrangements on road vehicles carried by sea on Ro/Ro ships — semi-trailers. Adopted by endorsement from ISO 9367-2:1994.
No Gulf strap standardThere is no GSO equivalent of EN 12195-2 for the webbing lashing itself. Buyers therefore work from a European or international test report on the strap.

What we can put in your file

The documents, and who pays for which

We are the manufacturer, not the importer — so we are clear about which half of the paperwork is ours and which half belongs to your importer.

Ours, supplied with the order

  • Test report to the standard you specify — EN 12195-2 for lashing straps, EN 1492-1 / -2 for webbing and round slings — from an accredited laboratory
  • TÜV GS certificates S 50594629 (ratchet tie downs) and S 50594633 (flat webbing slings)
  • CE registration AM 50599487 for the lifting strap, under the EC Machinery Directive
  • TÜV CERT DIN EN ISO 9001 quality management certificate
  • Batch pull-test report linked to the serial numbers on the goods
  • Certificate of origin, packing list and invoice with the HS code
  • Product photographs showing the label and the marking
  • Labels and cartons in Arabic and English on request

Your importer's, filed in their name

  • SABER registration and the SCoC request in Saudi Arabia
  • ECAS application through MOIAT in the UAE
  • Import licence and the local agent or distributor appointment
  • Arabic labelling compliance for the retail packaging, where the market requires it

We do not pretend to sell you a certificate we cannot issue. What we do is hand your importer a complete technical file so that the filing, the testing and the customs check move without a second round of questions.
